I want a job in a fast food resturant for summer. I have applied in several places but there is a problem. I have done a course which is about food poisoning and food hygine.I am not sure about one thing. I have acne, not a severe one but visible. It kind of looks like freckles. I am scared that they will reject me due to a skin problem like this. Acne is not caused due to improper personal hygeine but because of clogging of pores due excess oil. Please tell me if this can be a reason for rejection. I really need a job.

they shouldn't be able to reject you for the job since in america everyone is entitled to the right for a job. acne is just a part of life. if they reject you for acne it's like discrimination. just the same as if they rejected someone because of sex or color.

NOPE however if u have excess oil on your face... i would definatly not suggest working fast food for it will make it worse ..... i have very oily skin as well... im not encouraging u to not take a fast food job... but for your skins health i would maybe a waitress or something were ur not going to be around all the grease i was 20 when i worked at mc Ds and it just made the acne worse but they definatly cannot reject u because of acne.... u wont be the only one

Too bad because it could be the reason especially when applying for a job where looks is important. Don't lose heart, I'm sure your acne problem is temporary. If your acne problem is not so severe that would not be a problem. But when in doubt try applying for an office job or in manufacturing companies? Any company not service oriented will probably do.

They cant reject you for having blemishes on your face.No one will pay attention to this. Just forget about it and eat a healthy diet and get enough sleep and exercise. And don't wear make up because it can clog your pores. Be sure to take a nap during the day as well and drink plenty of water and wash your face with some type of acne medication and you will be just fine. Make sure you are confident and wear the right type of clothing when applying for a job. Im sure you will find one some day :)

Most fast food resturants are pretty desperate for employees. The one I work at hires 5 people, and looses 7 on a regular basis (I've been there three weeks, and already seen the fast turn around). I'd wear make up for your job interviews, and maybe the first few days of work. By your second week, no one is going to care.

Oh, and good luck!

If you don't get the job, it's more then likely going to be because you don't have experince and they're not willing to train you, or you bomb on your interview. I've never heard of anyone not getting a job because of acne. I think most people know that acne isn't casued by bad hygiene, and the only reason someone might think that might be if you had bad hygiene (which i'm sure you don't). Just remember to smile, and dress properly for your interview (not too revealing or too casual), and you'll probably do well. Good luck. :)

Legally they cannot decline/accept you due to any physical, mental, religious, and so on and so forth aspects. Unfortunately they will never tell you that is why they chose not to hire you. Try not to let it affect your attitude toward your goals and the potential employer will see past that as well. The employer should be mature enough to understand all of the facts that you pointed out. As long as you let them know your serious about the job and are willing to work hard for it, none of that should make a difference.

I've seen plenty of people with acne serving food at McDonald's, Hardees, Burger King, Taco Bell, etc. I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you're that worried I would apply at a movie theater. It's a lot of fun working at one. Good luck on your job search.

Unlikely. Lots of people have it. If fast food restaurants were that picky about employees, we'd all be frying our own burgers. However, contrary to what another answer said, acne is NOT a protected class under employment discrimination law.

Don't worry you will get the job, just be yourself and be confident. If you are worried about the acne then try out some over the counter acne medications.
