You should write a book. How absolutely lovely it would be (and therapuetic as well!). It could be in the form of a love letter. The premise could be writing all of your memories from day one. Some will be funny.....others poignant....still others will be struggles.....and still more will be comforting. Writing has this way of allowing us to get lost in thought and remembrances. Time flies, and before you know it......the night has passed and it is time for rest. You will gain so much from writing and delving into a life that is definitely worth remembering! :) Good luck! :)

Well, being a bored divorcee, some nights I like to sit out on the porch and watch the sun go down and watch the stars come out. I like to sit there and try and remember the constellations. Find the big/little dipper and if the sun set is really nice I will take a picture of it and post it in my journal. With my thoughts at the time. I try to keep them light and fluffy to lift my mood so they will be something that I will not look back on in two years and go ewwwwwwww, I needed help. Even if my thoughts are dark, I try to project in my words life and happiness. Wonder and joy. It is the only thing that kept me going when I was living with my ex being in the middle east while we were married and me all alone and then his affair and our divorce later. If that doesn't work then I go on-line and flirt with everyone. Girl, guy who cares.

I really like MnG's idea, another thing you can that will help you out and the grand kids too is to make an album specific about your husband from when he was young until the final days..some with family members and the good times so the grand kids and the whole family can look at this and read short stories about him..it will keep his memories alive not that he will be forgotten but just something to go to when you want to reminisce and to tell the grand kids his life story.
Or you can always..wait you said keep it clean never mind...lol

I would probably try to fill the void by immersing myself in some type of class. I enjoy learning new things and have always wanted to try glassblowing. Do something you have always wanted to do. You may even make some new friends in the process. I know you are creative...maybe painting, drawing, writing, or a book club. I've often thought of starting a book club, because fun for me is sitting around discussing metaphors and meanings. You could start a book club with a small circle of friends and get together a few nights a week for coffee (or wine :) and group discussion.

Sassy, I have been meaning to talk to you about the hobby that is sweeping the world by storm. It is one that has interested me for years now, the wonderful world of clothespin collecting. It really is a fascinating way to spend countless evenings and fill those vacant days. If your interested let me know, will be glad to advice you on how to start collecting, what to look for, fake vs. real items, our convention and seminar schedules.
Trust me you will not be disappointed to start this wonderful hobby, the problem is trying to stop for the evening once you get started because of all the excitement. We collectors also have an International organization, to which I am proud to be an officer. Let me know when your ready to get started.

So far, I like myteemo's answer the best. Use this time to be productive. When my Dad died I needed to get out of a rut. I went and bought a guitar and I started taking guitar lessons. I wanted this time of mourning to be meaningful, so I did something constructive. Every time I pick up the guitar, I see him smiling, he was my biggest fan!!
By the way, Eye love the new pic.

Being lonely can be therapeutic at times too. Don't try to do everything at once to occupy your mind. Just let things happen. Sometimes we try too hard to heal ourselves. It is important to let feelings take its course....smile
If I had a suggestion for you, I would tell you, but many good ones have been offered.
Huggggggggggs

Keeping it clean means drooping my laundry off, not an option ? I suggest you get South Parks season on DVD and watch it. You'll laugh you'll cry, you'll be thoroughly disgusted, you'll send me hate mail. It can be very therapeutic.
