I live in Los Angeles California. I wanna be an Aircraft Mechanic, but i wanna know if empoyment is good and will it get better in the next 4-6 years?

I had a friend who did that until his airline went on strike last year - now he's in nursing school. My cousin graduated I think two years ago now from school to do that, she has yet to find a job in her field.

Depends on which way you go. Companies that have government contracts (LSI, Raytheon, L3, Boeing, Lockheed, ie) usually pay better than a local FBO. Not saying that FBO's aren't the way to go. They are usually smaller so you will get more experience in different areas and that looks good on a resume. Here in Texas, you can find a job from $12-$26 an hour. Planes aren't going away, so there will be always a need for an aircraft mechanic.

Depends what you mean by aircraft mechanic. I hold an A&P, but do not work on airplanes. Instead, I do professional work for a manufacturer. It pays a lot better, plus, I don't have to deal with unions.

definately depends on which part of the A&P your talking about.... I work for P&W in CT atm and love every minute of it, plus it pays really well here.
