in your own opinion what charactaristics define the Alpha Male.

The alpha male is the leader or the person that makes all the choices. It's the toughest guy in a group, or the one who all the others listen to. It is also used in animal society too. The animal that beats all the others in a fight gets to eat first and gets his choice of any female. There can only be ONE alpha male in a group.

Well humans are no different to other animals. In social animals, the alpha male or alpha female is the individual in the community whom the others follow and defer to. Where one male and one female fulfill this role, they are referred to as the alpha pair.

Similarly the "Alpha" role excerpts a position of dominance over the other individuals making them the top of the social ladder.

The President - whoever he is. We are primates and primates look to the Alpha male. That's why it is so hard to elect women. They are qualified, but we are wired toward male leadership.

Of course, these things can change. Everything changes.
