at home depot there is a little kit and you don't even have to turn the water off.... you put this clamp on the cold water side under sink, then run tubing through holes drilled in cabinets (hardest part) all the way to fridge. The clamp has a screw which when tightened pokes hole in water line. Kit has everything except a 1/4 inch compression nut and sleeve,(for fridge end of project) and these come one peice or 2, you'll get it as soon as you see it, promise. This is a very easy job, don't call a plumber.. call me ;)

within the last year i have done this 3 times for myself and friends your fridge should have come with all you need, about 20 ft of soft flex tubing and a self tapping shutoff valve or maybe one that has to be drilled.if your water lines run under your kitchen drill a hole the size of the tubing behind your fridge, run the line to the nearest cold water supply(shut off water first) install the self tapping valve and secure in place hook lines up to valve and fridge, turn water back on check for leaks, your done. if you can't get a self tapping valve you will have to drill a small hole in the supply line usually with a 1/16in. or 1/4in. drill bit. when finished remember to run about a half gallon of water thru the system and a tray or two of cubes first, and throw away so you don't get any dirt in them from the job.

What JAY D said, buy a kit that taps into the cold water supply from your sink. You only have to shut off the valve that goes to the faucet. REAL easy! That's the cheapest way. Just be careful of leaks. Oh and it took me an hour to do plus I had to drill 6 holes in the back of my cabinets.

You would probably want to look at the job and see if you have the tools, time and want too to save a little money. If you get the job started on a Sat. it might be sometime Sun. before you are finished. When it comes to cutting holes, soldering, finding fittings etc. But you could save yourself some real money it you plan the job in advance. Know what fittings you will need, tools you will need, where the water shutoffs are (You will want to know where the main is even if you know where the under the sink is)...And plan for what might go wrong...Good Luck..RoeB
