I want the details, why EVERY person should hear this movie soundtrack. Why it transends a genre or era, and makes it worthy of the "best movie soundtrack EVER" recognition.

Too many....

Okay, I will agree with many of the posters that Grease is an excellent soundtrack in the musical category....

For instrumental music you have to check out The Last of the Mohicans Randy Edelman's original compositions are really beautiful and moving. Almost forgot John Corigliano's score for The Red Violin, which is abosolutely amazing.

For pop music soundtracks, I'll have to go with The Commitments and the Lost Boys soundtracks... both very cool.

Phantom of the Opera is a great soundtrack and beautiful.

Hair is exellent! Some funny songs, some good songs.

Alice's Restaurant is also good.

The soundtrack to Easy Rider.

The soundtrack to Hope Floats is also good, as is When Harry Met Sally.

When I was a little girl Grease came out, as did the Soundtrack. It was embraced by young and old and became a classic that has never died. When I hear teenage girls talk about it and say it is one of their faves I laugh. It has Oldies from the 50's as well as hits made famous from the actors. Grease is the word and will live on to Born Hand Jive Baby. lol

Grease - I have been singing those songs since I was a teenager and they never get old. I know people will think that's a cheesy answer but I love Grease.
