SCAM,SCAM, and more scam. Do not send any pictures anywhere. The picture could end up in a dangerous site watched by people who are up to no good. Any reputable publication will not be asking for pictures over the Internet. Magazines pay models and hire models for their covers and or ads through modeling agencies. Do you know how many thousands of models and pictures get looked at for every cover???? Be very careful with any pictures and/or personal information. A cover model would get paid many thousands of dollars for that type of work. Best of luck to you.

If it's not a contest, it may be a scam. Most magazines, Seventeen included, feature young celebrities and paid professional models. They might have a reader contest, in which you would be competing with other readers for a cover, but it's unlikely that it's a simple 1-2-3 series of actions that lead to your cover shoot.

Well the first question to ask yourself is whether or not they are asking money from YOU first. If they are, then yes it is a scam. There are many different programs out there that claim to help in modeling or acting. But once you've sent in your check, they magically disappear or stop answering your calls.
What you're discribing sounds like it could possibly be legit. The worst that can happen is you send your picture and it's Photoshopped into some porn websit (it happens). But again, if you're not too bothered by that worst-case scenario, it couldn't hurt to try.
Good luck =)

if it's not through seventeen's website -- it probably is a scam.
if it's on their legit website as a contest or whatnot, then it's probably legit. just always be sure to read the fine print (rules, regulations, terms, conditions). it sucks to read all that junk, but you'd be surprised what it says sometimes. can save you a lot of time, money, and headache.
good luck to ya!

If they want any money from you, it is a scam. The magazines do not solicit photos from amateurs on-line.

thats a very credible magazine. you should call them (the number is probably located inside the magazine or on their website) and talk to someone directly. they could be having a contest or something.
