Living here, health care is not free, we are taxed more than Americans, hockey is only played for about 4 months a year and golf about 6 months. Parts of Canada are more south than the United States but we do have more than two political parties and a vote counts as a vote so our system of government is more democratic than the electoral college version. Our present government the conservatives are considering more representational voting. That means that Al Gore may have won the election as he received more of the popular vote in America but here in Canada it would mean that more of the opposition may be given seats in the House of Commons to oppose the government that won overall.

Canada is a huge country with relatively few, notably hardy people. As northern neighbor for the U.S. it is a rich source of petroleum, timber, minerals and other natural resources including many talented immigrants some of whom have become famous in public media. Compared to the many skilled immigrants from Canada, few people migrate north though this may also benefit the U.S. as they are often malcontents, military deserters and freeloaders in hopes of a better deal in more liberal Canadian social programs.
