With all the division and hostilites between the Democrats & Republicans would it not be easier to start anew? I think so, but I would know how to begin, or if?

I'm a registered democrat but I admit the democrat party is dying, which is a good thing for me. I'm more libertarian than democrat, and if the republican party sucessfully drives the democrat party into the ground, the libertarian party will likely rise up. I'm hoping this happens. I'd rather vote democrat than republican and libertarian than democrat.. it's all about freedom baby

It would be very difficult to try to dissolve the democratic and republican parties because they have been around for so many years and many people identify with their ideals. However, there are alternative parties that you people can choose. To start anew, it would not be easy, It would be like deleting our federal government and trying to re-write it. And people have been having the same ideas for centuries now. Even if all the parties were eliminated and then rebuilt, they would still probably hold the same values as the parties today.

the fighting between parties has occured ever since washington stepped out of office and the 1st opposition against someone running for president, adams v. jefferson, Federalist v. Republican.

It would be a great idea to try to start anew, but people are set in their ways, and it's just not practical.

I vote you start a party. Seriously. Sponsor someone to run for president that is freakin sweet and we can all support then we can all join your awesome party and finally agree.
Dems and Republicans can't agree on things mainly because there are just about 5 people controlling each party. There isn't really any freedom of thought in either party (wuttup Joe Liberman)

Good luck with that! I have worked for and supported the Green Party for awhile, particularly when they ran Ralph Nadar for president and you know how that went...the two party system is strongly embedded in the conscious of cattle-like americans who think those are their own 2 choices. So therefore, they refuse to vote for other parties...and 3rd parties usually get few votes. Many will say they wanted to vote for the 3rd party candidate but were afraid it was taken away their vote from their next choice between one of the big two.
People need to vote their conscious and stop voting and behaving and adopting attitudes that are being pushed on them like sheep.

No. It is time to abolish the seditious people who HIDE in each of the two parties. I'm a Democrat, my wife is Republican. We'll each start with our own parties. How about you?

Time to clean house, kids. I'm an American first, President Bush is my President, though I disagree with some of his policies, and I am proud of my troops and regardless of my beliefs will NOT undermine their efforts. I may vote certain ways, but in front of the eyes of the world I will be American first, not seditious, not spreading unfounded rumors, not treating people in my country (especially our elected leaders) as "guilty until proven innocent).

Help us out, will you? Speak up. They have free speech. So do we. Use it.

It sure would be nice if at least the candidates were all non-partisan.
At least the majority of the people voting would stop voting party lines and start voting by the issues.
