I don't hate all rap, its just most of it isn't my style. It seems so manufactured nowadays and most of the songs are about the exact same thing.
"I'm richer than you, b*itch!!
And I got all this money to spend on my ho's
Watch me flash my bling"
Occassionally, a rap song will come out that I like, but they're getting less and less common nowadays. I still love "The Message" though.

Rap music and rap artists are stereotyped. A lot of people don't realize that there are different kinds of rap music. I love conscious rap. It actually has substance. It's not about bling, expensive cars, or sex. And it's not degrading to women. It's about politics, current events, religion, relationships, and hardships. Tupac, Kanye West, Common, Talib Kweli, Lauryn Hill, Eminem, Linkin Park, and Fort Minor are all great artists. They focus on real issues not nonsense. Some people don't realize that conscious rap exists and they end up dismissing all rap music. But there are intelligent rap artists and who write intelligent lyrics.

I do appreciate some rap artist's lyrics but don't enjoy listening to rap on a regular basis because it's much like listening to someone talking your ear off. I prefer a melody and vocals and good instrumentals without it always being sampled. I don't feel it's right to bash a "culture" or the people who enjoy it. Disagreeing about the type of music people listen to is one thing but there's no need to be critical and rude to others because they like it.

I can only speak for myself, but basically all it sounds like is slang ghetto street talking to a monotonous beat. Anyone can bang out a repetitive rhythm with a drum and say words that rhyme. It's not too hard to move a needle back and forth on a vinyl record album for that annoying noise either. Hmmm, did they go to Berkeley to learn that??? I don't see any real MUSICAL TALENT in rap. I know all the "sup yo dog me bad" kids are all going to disagree which is why it's so great to live in America...... I know I'm writing in real English with correct spelling, I hope I don't shock anyone.

I used to like rap. You know why I don't like most of it any more? Its repetitive. Oh sure there are a few artists that aren't but the majority are just riding the coat tails of previously succesful rappers trying to make a few bucks. Plus make it understandable, I hardly consider Twista to be musically talented, he can just talk fast. Lil John repeats the same thing over again. Oh and heck anyone who uses 'Lil' in their name is almost assured to be unoriginal (my screenname is a bit of a play on this)

I don't like most rap because of the negativity and the stereoypical images conveyed to society on a larger scale, especially, Kanye West who is such a hypocrite. Get an education Kanye because you will need one once your rap career flame out in a year or so.

I believe that it depends on a person's style and outlook of music. For example, as a singer and songwriter in a jazzy/pop/contemporary/adult alternative genre, I am more likely to be intrigued and captivated by artists who are in a similar style. Not all rap is bad being that I'm one who sings and most of their work is spoken, I am not as drawn into than others. I do understand it's appeal however. :)

I don't like some rap because it shows that some of the "artists" didn't use any brain cells whatsoever to come up with a pathetic rhyme. Kanye West, however, obviously deserves applause for his talents!

When rap stops talking about women as sex objects, getting money, riding around in fancy cars, selling drugs, sleeping with ho's, Let me see your grills, gold teefes, platinum rings, diamonds, sean john, rockafella, how many guns you got, i'll take your girl, and being thugged out. Then i'll listen to it. I like Alternative music, such as Staind, Alanis morrisette, Linkin park, i don't hear these artist talking bout how much money they got, how much they floss, or how many women they sleep with on a regular. That is why i don't like rap. They need to "RAP" it up.

im not a big fan of rap because all they are doing is rhyming. they dont play instuments, or make their own music most of the time. I like rock because its cool to think about how much time and effort had to be put into it. not only the lyrics, but the actual music.
