Is there a way for an American who is not Jewish to go to Israel to help them in their fight and will they accept the help? I am x-military and would relieve a younger military person to fight. It is time for the world to come to Israel's aid against the terrorists in the Gaza strip and in Lebonon.

Americans have volunteered to serve in the IDF and not all of them were Jewish. And, there is no danger to your American citizenship. If you are serious about this, you should contact the Israeli embassy and ask them.

The answer from Jewish Rewsna is the correct answer. Most Americans only know about what happens in Israel because of pro-Israeli bias in the media. What the media doesn't tell you about is the extreme right wing ultra-orthodox Jews who violate Israeli laws and forcibly intrude into Palestinian neighborhoods and start terrorizing the inhabitants buy beating them, torching their shops and other vandalous deeds - sometimes sniping and murder.

These ultra-orthodox Jews feel that all the land described as conquered by King David in the Old Testament - i.e. from the Nile to the Euphrates, belongs to Israel, and they will stop at nothing to see this belief fulfilled.

Meanwhile, even though these ultra-religious Jews are in fact the instigators of much of the trouble that plagues Israel, and although they are in violation of Israeli law, the Israeli government turns a blind eye to their deeds much like law officers in the South used to turn a blind eye to the actions of the KKK. Actually, rather a very good comparison.

So, if you want to fight for Israel in your uninformed (probably Christian) mindset, then knock yourself out. But realize that you only have part of the story.

Another thing the news doesn't tell you is that many of the persecuted Palesitinians are in fact Christians and not Muslim extremists. The Israelis don't care either way. You might want to consider that before you swear an oath of fealty to Israel.

I think Otis F gave you the answer you need, but I just wanted to say thank you so much for your offer of help! It is very much appreciated.

Rewsna is a disgrace to Jews everywhere. Obviously his parents did not teach him anything about his heritage or about history. Here is my answer to him:
When Israel declared its independence, the surrounding Arabs nations immediately declared war. They told the local Arabs to flee until Israel was destroyed, and that they would then have their homes back. However, Israel won the war -- and every war since. Those local Arabs who had left their homes decided to call themselves Palestinians, and so you can see how "ancient" the Palestinians really are. The Palestinians' plight is the fault of the surrounding Arab nations. Do not blame the Israelis.

And as for amartouk:
The ultra-orthodox do not go out beating people and torching their shops. The ultra-orthodox live in their own little private ghettos -- quite far from any Palestinians -- and they seldom venture forth, certainly not to break Torah law by harrassing Palestinians.
In any event, the Israeli government does arrest, prosecute, and imprison ANYONE who commits or plans to commit a hate crime. Sadly, there have been a few Jewish citizens who fall under this category. Every country has its nutcases. Simply, these nutcases weren't ultra-orthodox, and the government does not turn a blind eye on them.

I'm glad you stated your question as "Help Israel?" (with a question mark). Well I am a Jew and I'd like to encourage you not to go to Israel to fight.

Israel did not earn the land they are occupying. The indigenous people are the Palestinians (Caananites), not the Jewish "Chosen People".

I get that we Jews have suffered serious persecution, but the fact is most of that region was RECENTLY taken from the Palestians, and offered up to the Jews by the Brits, whose gov't is superb at occupying and giving other peoples' land away.

This group of Jews were seeking refuge but, basically the UK handed them the Palestinians' keys and then the Jews stepped inside their house and asked them all to move into the bathroom so they could live in the rest of the house.

Now the Palestinians are demoralized and segregated in ghetto conditions. It's like some of us didn't learn anything from the Holocaust. It's like we are the abused having become the abusers. It sickens me.

Israel is just like the United states all I see that they have a bad government bad polices and love to kill the other they are a warrior
with out peace they kill innocent ppl if u want to fight with them
then it must be that you have something against the other government the seeds for peace must be not hostile but ppl die
everyday if not Iraq it is Israel where Jesus started preaching
he had saw it then as he saw it now that change will never be
what you want in a government to be.
