All room mates seem pretty cool until you get to know them....
my freshman room mate used to bring over his fat girlfriend all the time, and go at it in the middle of the night, or i would get back to the room and shed be sitting in his bed eating burger king watching TV, he majored in some BS major (me in mechanical engineering) so he would all ways have his homies over listening to frat boy music (louie louie) drinking beer every night of the week.

Yes, my freshman year my roommate had a breakdown and they had to come and take him home. He was always up and down and one night got mad about something and it sent him over the edge. I felt bad because he was teased by other guys on the floor because he acted differently and that didn't help him either... Be careful, but most of the time there aren't a lot of problems with roommates

Most room mates can be a bad experience. Let's face it the college doesn't do much more than match you according to your majors. They can't match the type of upbringing you had, or how you spend your weekends.

My bad experiences: An iranian. Nice guy really, but couldn't speak much english and we had a hard time communicating.

A guy who would eat any food he found in the place and then blame it on 'mice'. (Mice don't open the packages and then close them back up!)

Had a roomy who listened to loud music while I was trying to study. He listened to loud music all the freaking time. I was sooo glad when they threw him out.

I had a room mate who used to bring his girl friend over and hide her in the bed (not a co-ed dorm). I would come into the room, get totally undressed and get into bed and hear HER say "Good night...."

Try to be the best you can be and do your best to get along.

OH...yeah. The best advice I can give is to live on campus for as long as you can stand it. Otherwise you run the risk of deadbeat roommates who can't pay bills or rent or even worse leave before the lease is up!!

What will your living situation be?
