Wow. What an odd question. First of all, by the way, your question is not worded properly. It should read "What looks WORSE........
Ok, with that. Hmmm, I don't know. I mean are you a shallow person who only judges on looks. What constitutes fat to you? Truly people who dress for their body type are fine with me. I mean someone squishing themselves into a small tight t-shirt or skirt or whatever with stuff squishing out look uncomfortable. You have to know what looks good on you and not try to conform to the current styles. Wear clothing that fits and you'll be fine!

Well, that to generalized for my liking. Of course it is your question. However, overweight people can come in all types, just like average or small people. Some take care of themselves, some don't. Some are not very attractive some are. So therefore I think you making it to large a question and those who answer straight out probably have a fatphobic way of thinking anyway. Why are you asking? You can't decide on a fat boyfriend or a fat girlfriend ?

I think fat men are worse. Most fat women I know or have seen (excluding those in Wal Mart and West Virginia) generally seem to take care of themselves...dress nicely, wear make up, appear clean, etc. With fat men...uh. I don't know. There's something about a guy who looks 9 months pregnant with his gut hanging over his belt and his waist down around the crack of his butt that's just WRONG.

Good Question! I think in our society, obese people are made to feel ashamed no matter what their gender is. That said, it's amazing how many more people see to be more disgusted with fat women than with fat men.
AND, even more intriguing to me, is how fat men are feminized: i.e. 'man boobs'. It's really f-ing weird that we degrade men by likening parts of their bodies to a girl's anatomy.
But, back to your question, personally speaking I am less likely to really look at a fat woman simply because as a woman, one of my biggest fears: that I will one day wake up looking like her. I find it a lot easier to look fat men in the eye, regardless of other physical characteristics.

At least fat women try and dress well. Usually. I don't understand why overweight men insist on getting the wrong sized pants and then having their belly hanging over the belt. If a woman did that, she'd be stared at more than she already is. And yes, I'm fat. (Dancing around, shaking my arms, and not caring that some people disapprove! Woo-hoo!)

With all the money that women spend on manicures, pedicures, hair color, the latest clothes styles ( even when they don't fit), eyebrow shaping, makeup ear piercings etc etc. it is a wonder that they don't do something that will really make them look good, and that is to loose weight. You take a woman who spends all her time and money "accessoring" ( nails, hair, eyebrows etc) and put her next to a fit woman, the guys will take the fit woman every time. To answer your question, fat women are the worst.

A fat woman because their body fat is soft and jiggly. A fat man; his fat is large but firmly stuck to him. And we are so trained what the typical female form should be, that a fat woman looks very displeasing.

I think it is more acceptable for a man to be fat than a woman. Not saying a agree with it. Just seems that way.

probably a fat woman. Men are normally larger than women. and when a woman is bigger than a man, its kinda creepy/disgusting. women are also known to be very into their looks.... so when you see a fat woman not taking care of herself its more of a turn off than a fat man is.... not that a fat man is attractive in any way though.

Whats it really matter how much extra "mass" someone has on their body? Its whats inside that counts.
To look down on someone for being fat, is just as shallow as your question!
(And NO, Im not over weight, I work at a health club, and I know how hard it is for people to get excess weight off)
