Personally I like these bands, but about songs, they're many! So I'll right my favourite bands & offer you one album from each, if it's your first time listening to them:

Favorite song is a tie between Cowgirl in the Sand and Like a Hurricane both by Neil Young.
My favorite band today is Charlie Daniels Band. But I am sensing you want something more funkilicious...

WIRE - there first three albums are brilliant, there middle stuff is so/so, and there read and burn newer stuff is back to brilliant!
MISSION OF BURMA - doesn't get much better than mission of burma, their big "hit" was "thats when i reach for my revolver" gets frequently covered.
TELEVISION - intelligent punk music
SPACEMAN3, SPIRITULIZED, SPECTRUM - the last two bands that spun off the first one, and play some of the best drone around.
PERE UBU -sort of an aquired taste, but the finest in avant gard garage rock
GUITAR WOLF - playing some of the loudest and fastest and best punk currently out there today. if the souls of every dead rocker went to one place they probably ended up in this band.
also, try pandora.com its free and quick to get going, basically you start with a song you like and then it plays similar artists you can rate and it keeps trying to figure out based on the style of the various songs you like what else you might not know but would enjoy.

My favorite band is Garbage. Some of my favorite songs by them, is "Only Happy When It Rains," "Run Baby Run," "Never Be Free", and anything from the Version 2.0 Album. It's a definite must. :)

Queen are my all time favorite.
They aren't new but each time I hear their songs I find something different.
More recently I'm enjoying Keane, a pop English group.
Only two albums (Hopes&Fears and Under the Iron Sea) but very good.
If you like something more "dark", try out Moonspell.
Their new album Memorial is awesome.

My Favorite singer is Trish Thuy Trang and my Favorite songs are Somewhere In Time and The Day You Went Away both songs are sung by Trish ^-^

My favorite band is Amici forever and Il Divo. My favorite song from Amici Forever is Land and Freedom (Terra y liberta) My favorite song from Il Divo is Por Ti Sere
Both are opera groups

I love that she mentioned Infectious Grooves. I totally second that. If you're into country at all, try Gary Allan's Tough All Over. Definitely the best country album to come out in recent history.
