It's always easier to be objective about other people's problems, than your own. Sort of like you can't see the forest for the trees. When you think about your own problems, your emotions cloud your judgement up.

because the problems people ask are problems we can't think up and answer to, but another question could be a question someone can answer easily or had experience with that problem

It is harder to be objective when it is your own problem. You know what sounds logical but find it hard to apply it to your own situation. It takes someone else saying it in black and white.
