If you are using only HTML code for your page try to use MIDI files preferly because those are easy and fast to load.

Search for MIDI Loops on yahoo and you will find some good songs. Like this http://www.aitech.ac.jp/~ckelly/midi/loops

But if you are using Flash for you page you can use any type of music because it is embedded, like MP3, WAV or MIDI too.

Remember that some thing on the net are copyrighted so you may end with a few selection of good songs. Or you may try the following link to buy background music and loop songs.
