1.5 hens : 1.5 days --> 1.5 eggs

4 times as many hens and 4 times as many days would mean we would produce 16 times as many eggs.

1.5 hens x 4 : 1.5 days x 4 --> 1.5 eggs x 16

That comes out to:
6 hens : 6 days --> 24 eggs

So 6 hens in 6 days would lay 24 eggs.

The answer is: 24 eggs

A hen and a half laid an egg and a half in a day and a half

therefore 3 hens laid 3 eggs in a day and a half
or 6 hens laid 6 eggs in a day and a half
or 6 hens laid 12 eggs in 3 days
or 6 hens laid 24 eggs in 6 days.

So 24.

The answer is 6.
6 hens, 6 days
in the factor of 1.5 its
4 egg layers lay 1.5 egg a day for 4 day period
4*1.5 = 6 eggs.

bandf is correct.

You setup the ratio like this... (1.5 hen)(1.5 day) : (1.5 egg)

The reason why you setup the ratio like this, is because if you increase the number of hens, then the number of eggs would have to go up propotionally to remain the same ratio. And if the number of days increased, again the number of eggs would have to go up propotionally to remain the same ratio.

(1.5 Hens)(1.5 Days) / (1.5 Eggs) = (6 Hens)(6 Days) / e
(e)(1.5 Hens)(1.5 Days) = (1.5 Eggs)(6 Hens)(6 Days)
e = (1.5 Eggs)(6 Hens)(6 Days) / ((1.5 Hens)(1.5 Days))
e = (1.5 Eggs)(6)(6) / ((1.5)(1.5))
e = 24 Eggs
