No, its not true. It was not part of his agenda as the rights of black citizens were forefront and the most important-his wife to the day advocated the rights of blacks and gays in his name.

MLK Jr did support gay rights, in fact another guy (I've forgotten his name) that was a close friend (just a friend) to him and did a lot of prep for the marches was gay. MLK Jr did not want to talk about it much though. Guess he didn't want to talk about everybody's equal rights at the time, I don't know why.

That is not true to the best of my knowledge. His DAUGHTER does not support gay rights. His late wife did -- very strongly, and as far as I know he did -- as much as anyone could in the early 60s. He in fact had close gay friends. His wife saw it as a continuation of his struggle -- and spoke to that point repeatedly. His daughter's theocratic position misses both the point of Christ, and the point of MLK's life, imho.

No, but he did oppose Muslims very strongly. He really didn't like them. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would have most certainly been in favor of gay rights and he would have also most certainly opposed so many of the things that George W has done. He would have been completely against the wars as well.

The first poster is right, but unfortunately not too this day, as she is no longer with us.

But the Kings certainly did support gay rights from what I have read.

The Kings were civil right activists, It was time for the black people to be equalized, eventually there will be a time for homosexuals.

That is what I think.

He supported gay rights but did not actively fight for them. I think he thought gays should fight for their equality in the same way that black men should fight for theirs.
