Okay don't worry, i know this sounds gross but is it coming from just one breast? strange colour ie green, does it smell bad. If yes to any of them go straight to the doctor and get it check out.

But i recommend you to go the doctor anyway. It could be due to a hormone imbalance or in some cases just stress. As we get stress the body produces prolactin (ah the fun of hormones) and prolactin is the hormone responsible for lactation, hence the discharge. Bottom line, 1. don't worry, 2. see a doctor (they will most like do a breast examine and take a blood sample for hormone testing).

Well Im curious as to if you have recently had children or if you ever had children. How long has this been going on? Some women leak milk for many months after having a child. I think you need to take a pregnancy test just to be safe.

Hi, don't worry about it. From what you've said it's coming from both nipples. If so its so unlikely to be cancer its not worth considering. Go see your gp, he will probably want to do a bllod test to check for prolactin, a hormone secreted by a gland in the brain. If this is positive you may need further tests, medication or surgical treatment. If it is negative then the dr is likely to say "lets keep an eyes on it" as its unlikely to be serious.

I am no expert, but I heard something about this on TV recently. If the stuff is milky it could be to do with hormone level imbalance.....

But whatever the case, I advise a visit to the doctor as soon as possible to make sure everything is as it should be and if it's not, then to sort it out.

Best wishes.

One of my work colleagues suffered this as a side effect of nightshifts. Definitely sounds hormonal and needs to be checked out by the doctor. By the way, why do some people think it's amusing to give stupid or insensitive answers?

Check any medication you are on. I ended up in hospital once for the same reason only to find out after a long wait that it was a side effect of medication i was on at the time.

Breast Milk does not just appear when you are pregnant. There are other reasons why you may have milk in your breasts.

Breast stimulation (sexual foreplay; excercise without a sports bra; frequent self examination, such as checking daily to assess milk secretion) will stimulate increasing milk production. Lesions of the breast such as "herpes zoster" (chicken pox virus problem) or chest wall surgical incisions will stimulate lactation. Hormones are another reason. Please don't hesitate to see a doctor so they can explain it to you more completely.

dont worry,
i had this and i was a bit freaked out by it so i went to see my doc and she said it was nothing to worry about, it was a combination of my hormone levels and a side effect of some medication i was taking. go to the doctor, let them put your mind at rest. take care. x
