i have a tank with african chiclids and also a tank with south americans( red terror, manganeesse, jack dempsey) i am mostly concearned as to how long its going to take for the south americans as i am going to need an upgrade on tank size the red terror has already killed an oscar and another red terror and i believe the jack is going to go if they grow about 2 more inches.. how long do i have?

Not long. I suggest you start looking for a new tank now! These fish all grow rapidly and need a lot of tank space per fish. I recommend getting a longer tank as apposed to a tall one also. Try to put caves or good hiding spots in there for them too. This will help them to have their own territories. Also, search South American aquarium fish on the net. You will find tons of information. Hope this help.

I've found that most of the larger cichlids (jack dempsey, red terror, oscar, etc) have a growth rate of about 1 inch per month, although, depending on the tank size and water conditions oscars grow much faster. Cichlids are very territorial, so you need to make sure you have a large enough tank to accommodate them and their territories.

If its already killed other fish, chances are that your tank is already too small. My daughter has a 54 gallon tank with 4 ciclids, and her fish haven't gotten to full size yet.

it depends on how you feed the fish. maybe a few months. Manguenses are very aggressive and territorial when ti reaches the right size it will kill everything in you tank it can

they grow very quick, watch em get fat by feeding them peanuts, only problem is peanuts will make your filter sludgy n grimy and would need be cleaned more often
