It is not against the law but it is against flag etiquette. If you won't be able to take the flag in at night you should fly one. Some neighbors might get mad about it.

NO The American Flag a national piece of property most americans own. Shall only Fly at night if it is properly lighted under. (that is a law too) if it is Raining outside you are to take down the flag. and when the flag is not being flown it is to be stored and folded properly. Hey folks it is the American Flag that piece of cloth is American property belive it or not. for over 200 years people have died to keep them starts and strips on there...Whats wrong with showing a little patritism and take care of the flag?

No. It should be illuminated from below. It should also be in a good state of repair. It is so important to show respect for our flag, and impressive when it is done right, esp. at night.

There was never a law against it. Spotlighting the National Colors has always simply been a courtesy shown.

I am pretty sure you are supposed to have lights pointing to the flag.
