How did Calvin Coolidge's presidency end progressivism in the 1920's?

At the end of the Wilson adminstration, people wanted to go back to a stable time, one without foreign interference or new reforms. Coolidge ended progressivism by taking a more aloof stand when it came to domestic policies. Instead of implementing new social measures, he just laid back and let stuff take its course. Big business prospered and reforms became less commonplace.
