A man lives on the 20 th floor of a building. Everyday he gets up and goes to work. He rides the elevator down the 20 floors and leaves the building. Every night when he comes home he gets in the elevator. If he is in the elevator alone he rides to the 15 th floor and walks the last five floors to his apartment. If someone else is in the elevator with him, he rides all the way to the 20 th floor...

He's too short to reach the 20th floor button. All he can reach is the button for the 15th floor. If someone else is in the elevator, he can ask for help to push the button for his floor. (Going down is no problem since 1 is on the bottom.)

because he's very short and can't reach the 20th button to bring him all the way up. he can go down because the main floor (1) button is all the way on the bottom. if someone else is in the elevator with them they can press the "20" button for him

what if the second person is an infant, unable to walk yet?

OOPS!

no one thought of that.

c'mon, think up better riddles.

;-)

What if he lives on the 20th (penthouse or something), works on the 15th, owns his own business set up near home, so he doesn't need to stop in at the office in the mornings (to report in or punch a clock), does his work in the field (sales or something), stops back in at the office when he's alone at night to get paperwork done and prepare for the next day, but when he's with company, he's taking female clients back home for some quality time?

(he walks the last five floors for exercise)

OOPS -- that works too doesn't it?!!!

Too easy -- way too easy -- have to specify who or what the second person is and where and what the work is.

Sorry -- nice try all around. I'm not that smart really, I just own my own business and I'm single, think like a businessman.

Scary isn't it?

;-)

Here is another version of your riddle:

A man lives on the 20th floor of a building. On sunny days, he goes to the 8th floor and walks the rest of the way. On rainy days, he goes all the way up. Why?

♥ Doesn't require a genius to find the answer... I won't be the one to spoil your fun though ;)

Because he is very short and can only reach the floor buttons at the bottom. If someone is with him, he asks them to push "20" for him.

He is short and cannot reach 20th Button, although I gotta wonder why he doesn't carry a stick to Push Button 20, afterall someone I went to School with that was really short had a stick for that.
