Right. Let's make everyone realize that "right-wingers" are perhaps fascists (like Hitler and Mussolini). But first, we need to ease into a nouveau-definition, if this idea is to take root!

Here's your helpful guidance to those potential mudslingers who "don't want to look it up". Your definition:

",,, it means: an adherent of fascism or other right-wing authoritarian views"

Now...here's a slightly more comprehensive definition from Wikipedia along with a link for all the name-callers who wish to study the actual meaning of their slurs:

"Fascism is a radical totalitarian political philosophy that combines elements of corporatism, authoritarianism, extreme nationalism, militarism, anti-rationalism, anti-anarchism, anti-communism and anti-liberalism."

From Merriam Webster:
"a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition"

In our recent memory, most people of my generation would associate Mussolini (of the Italian fascist movement) and Hitler (who brought us Naziism and the holocaust) with the true meaning of fascism. A central defining element is an authoritarian, totalitarian regime headed by a dictator (like Mussolini, Hitler, Peron, Tojo or Franco).

Hmmm. Seems a little more severe than "right-wing authoritarian" wouldn't you say?

But then when you're crafting your own new definition of a word (generally seen as a slur) you can "soften it up a bit" if you wish. Then maybe it'll be more likely to be used as a synonym for "conservative republican"?

That'll get their goats, right Neddie?

Fascism is "A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a (1) dictator, (2) stringent socioeconomic controls, (3) and suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship."

(1) Bush is not a dictator.
(2) He supports the free market, with less interference than the democrats would have.
(3) Freedom of speech is still going strong in America (otherwise, Michael Moore would be in jail)

You may disagree with Bush's position on many matters, but he is FAR from a facist! The republican party is not facist. "Neocons" are not fascists. We are not experiencing facism in America.

And, as I've said in other answers, "Stick to facts. By making such ridiculous comparisons, you lose an opportunity to share REAL, VALID complaints against Bush."

(Any body whose read your other questions knows what you were insinuating.)
