Definately sounds like a swim bladder problem. Unfortunately there really is no known cure, and could be cased by several things such as improper nutrition, poor water quality, fighting with other fish, or a combination of those. Try feeding the fish some thawed peas without the skins. This is supposed to help balance the fish, although I have never tried it.

if a fish is unable to swim or eat for more than a week, then there's really nothing you can do. it's a matter of time before it dies. i used to give my little guys fighting chances to make it through but unfortunately, most fish diseases don't carry any symptoms we can treat. you can hope for the best, but chances are he'll die.
what i'd recommend is putting him out of his misery. DON'T FLUSH HIM though. most people do that and think it's the best way, but it's not really. you need to scoop him in a net, flip it over itself so the top isnt open, and slam it against something hard. i know it sounds bad but the blunt forced trauma will kill it instantly. it's the only way to instantly kill a fish and i know i'd rather die instantly before i knew what was going on.
good luck though.

I can almost guarantee it's Swim Bladder Syndrome/Disease. That will make them lay on the bottom, and they can't swim very well. You can try feeding it a peeled, cooked pea, in little pieces. I've heard it works well, and I've tried it a few times and my fish got better (I don't really know if they got better on their own or if the pea helped, though). There is more advice in the two links below.

If he is not dead yet he will be soon. I doubt that there is much you can do at this point. Sorry, I recently lost a goldfish too. It was around 10 yrs old.

Easy, it's afraid of the shark! : )
Just kidding. I don't have a clue. It LOOKS healthy enough (coloring) and it doesn't look like it has "ick". Talk to your local pet store about it.

This is some good info for you. I have had goldfish in the past. They can over eat themselves, not good.
