Are we too pollitically correct when we are afraid to say things like Merry Christmas, Christmas Tree, Happy Hauneka, Happy Kwanza etc... are we to afraid of possibly naming the wrong holliday that we make society frown on using non-universal terms. C

Of course we have. It is time to restart calling a spade a spade and not shilly-shallying around such issues as 'chairperson' instead of 'chairman' when everyone knows that the 'man' part of 'chairman' does NOT relate to gender, but to the last part of the word 'human' As for annoying someone by wishing them a 'Happy Christmas' instead of a 'Happy Holiday' If they get annoyed, just remember who it was and the next year remember NOT to wish them a Merry Christmas at all.

I do not care personally what we call things. I do think it is a crock if we can no longer say Merry Christmas. I intend to, and fully expect to hear others say Happy Hannukkah, Happy Kwannza (or however it is spelled),and whatever other phrases there may be. These are all said with good intentions and I do not find fault with it.

The term "politically correct" assumes there is only one way, or in fact only one party. It originated in the Soviet Union. The Politburo always had one member who was the official ideologue, and he told people what was or was not politically correct. They had only one party, you see. You were either correct or you were on your way to Siberia.

Now think about this: which American political party has defined what is politically correct for the last ten years or more? To which policies and ways of speaking, to which attitudes, is the term "politically correct" applied? I'll give you a clue: the same one that is in the habit of building party machines, and making assumptions about all blacks, Jews, women, handicapped, union members, etc., being in their pocket? Hmmmmm, which one?

Yes. It's good to hear that you're aware of the mind controlling sceme in place. By changing the language, one can change people's thoughts. Read the book titled "1984" when you get a chance.

No its not politically correct. it is bias i would think. in a secular country there shouldnt be any fear to say something happy about any religious celebration in a good way.
