Ok - this works for the UK only - look @ the box. Divide it into columns and label them 1 -8. Now join all the pictures in column 1 up to make a square - you will have 1 left over. Note the number of how many rows down this extra shape is. Repeat for all columns and you will have a series of columns and extra shapes.

Ok remember cape horn? The time is the position - well it is the same here - the column number is the co-ordinate. The number of rows down is it's position.

***SPOILER***

This gives

16247583

It is a perfect solution ans works seamlessly - I am 99% sure it works and it right.

What about the map with the skull and crossbones. Remember running the 'skull and crossbones' card over the treasure map and hidden things would appear, like x's and 0's and words.

The shapes must be some sort of alphabet although I count 8 rows of 8 which make 64. The lines correspond to the lines on the treasure map with the 8 other symbols, not unless you turn it horizontally or vertically, then the shading has something to do with it. They are looking for 8 numbers.....hmmmmm!!!!!

ok in the 8x8 you have columns and rows...look down the first column and piece together the shapes...after the square is complete..the only one that doesnt fit is the fourth one down---hence the first number id 4!!---this works for each column..NOW you have 8 numbers out of sequence---go back the the lid and you will find each of the eight numbers you have hidden in the symbol--this IS the final answer cause its the only one that works PERFECTLY..as in i got that last percent...BTW*********************the original order of the 8 numbers found are 43610275---once plugged into the sybols on the lid....42305761

Thomas B is totally right and i could kick myself because i saw that the pieces fit together vertically with one left over but i couldn't figure out what to do with them. His box lid solution makes perfect sense. Good thinking!

Tell me again how you did it? I am totally lost as to how to deciper the puzzle pieces in the box. What does the cover have to do with it? amaineac@yahoo.com I imagine the threre are many people that already have the correct answer. It drove me crazy. How did you plug the numbers into the lid?

whats up men. the answer should be on the lid! imagine 0.5 circles, and quarter circles upload to the right and bottom of the markings to get numbers jointly with 8, 5 etc. provide that a go! Please enable me know in case you imagine this kinda works. each of the most acceptable!
