Horses. It's not because you can ride them, it's because I think they are the most human-like of all the animals. There's definitely a connection made between people and horses from the time they meet. I have an Appaloosa named Shawnee and the day when we became friends is a day I consider very special.
I love cats and dogs too though. I used to have two of each.

Cats if you have to go to work and leave them alone,
Dogs if you want to play and clean up when they have to go,
Horses if you have lots of room, food for them, and time.

Every single one is great but i would have to choose horses there is so much more to do with them and you can have a true strong bond with all of them, it just seems stronger with horses.

Dogs because a dog loves you back with all it's heart. My dog knows when I need a laugh and he always provides one - he also will put his paws on my shoulders and tuck his head under my chin when I need a hug. He is so awsome.

I love all of them but if i had to choose one, it would be a dog because they are always loyal, no matter what.
