i'm writing a story, it's about 2 brothers, they're 16, and they hate eachother. they fight a lot, both physically and verbally. what could they be named? the one who's 9 months older is calm and basically more popular with everyone and well liked. the other is a hothead who has a bad temper, but is really nice deep inside.

I like Ian and Jeremy, or John and Wes. I'm partial to those names.

I agree with Cain and Abel. You could include in the story an explanation of how their religious mother chose these names, not intending them to be a prophecy.
Why not make them twins?

I think they'd have to be more than 9 months apart. Your period doesn't start right away after you have a baby. And most nursing mothers wouldn't be up for a lot of sex.
