The Earth is heating up...pollution is weakening our atmosphere and causing harmful rays to come through even more.
The polar ice caps are melting, and skin cancer is increasing.

Global warming is when greenhouse gasses (CO2) Build up in the atmosphere and trap infrared radiation in the atmosphere. Global warming is real but people have taken it to far. There is no consistent information that links the Pollution we have caused to global warming. In fact anyone who knows about meteorology and geology knows that the earth is a violently changing planet that has been changing for millions of years and will continue to change for many more. An active volcano can produce more greenhouse gasses in an hour that we could in weeks! The fact is that the one degree F rise in temperature in the last hundred years is more likely to be nothing more than a natural change in the earth's climate. It's just now we have the technology to see and understand that it has happened.
Now some scientist are screaming it's the end of the world, why? To get funding, if it isn't a problem and nobody cares than the scientist won't get any money to research it. But if it is a horrible apocalyptic end of humanity suddenly people throw money into research. They are using scare tactics for nothing more than to get money.

Global Warming is the new religion that says we humans have sinned and God is going to destroy our world as penance. In other words, it's the same human-vanity condition that has plagued us from the beginning.
But seriously, "global warming" is the theory that the Earth is getting warmer due to an enhanced greenhouse effect. "Greenhouse effect" is the manner by which our atmosphere traps heat from the sun and has made life possible. That is a very basic definition. The fact that your teachers are not telling you much about this very complex subject makes it fairly obvious to me why people are so easily duped by the amount of downright bad science (and political propoganda) that is out there regarding this subject.
Bottom line, yes, the Earth has warmed about one degree Celcius in the last 150 years. However, despite what Al Gore will tell you or perhaps even your teachers (who probably know little more than you do), scientists are not in agreement about what is causing this warming, whether or not it is outside of natural variation, or if there is anything that humans could (or should) do to stop it.

When anything burns, it creates carbon dioxide. That is the same thing that comes out of your lungs when you exhale a breathe. It is also the same thing that a plant "breaths" in and uses in photosynthesis. Part of the cause of global warming is that carbon dioxide helps to trap heat from sun light. This is normally a good thing because otherwise the Earth would not heat up enough to support human life. But, when there is too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the Earth gets hotter and hotter. If we are not careful the Earth will begin to heat more and more and several chain reactions can through the whole process out of our control. If this happens, then the Earth's temperature will rise rapidly and there will be nothing that we can do about it, even if we stop pollution all together. Large glaciers will melt, the sea level will rise, and anything near any shore on Earth will be under water. Not to mention the people who will die from exposure to extreme temperatures, drought, and starvation.

Woot, question I can answer in full.
Global warming is the theory, yes damnit sit down it is technically a theory, that slowly greenhouse gasses from all sorts of sources are collecting at the upper reaches of the atmosphere, and not letting as much light bounce back out as would normally. The result of this is that our planets climate is getting steadily warmer. Now interestingly everyone who knows about this sort of thing, or almost everyone, agree that it will not result in a planet-wide tropical environment, but another ice age. The reason is, that as the planet warms, the ice caps melt, and the major currents which carry warm water into the colder northern regions and keep our planet nice and cozy, will be disrupted resulting in roughly 1/3rd to 1/2 of the planet being covered in ice.
Most people, the common and ignorant, point the finger at mankind. However it's most likely that this is entirely natural and that it's just a planet cycle, because all the crap we put out in the history of mankind doesn't even equal the amount of crap put into the atmosphere in a single volcanic eruption.

Global warming is the term given to the current trend of warm temperatures. Some people claim it is because of man made pollution, specifically Co2. However, the warming has been going on since the ice age, way before the industrial revolution. Tree rings and some written accounts indicate that medieval winters were harsher than today's winters. Natural processes, mainly decomposing, are responsible for about ninety percent of global Co2 emissions.

It is a myth thought up by scaremonger politicians. Scientific evidence shows that the earth's atmosphere is not warming on a global basis. Shifts in the atmosphere have caused a few areas to warm and others to actually (hold on to your toupee here Al) cool down. Global atmospheric shifts are cyclic. Man has not been around long enough to have historically lived through any of these cycles. The geologic record of the earth indicates that they have occurred in the past. Ontogeny recapitulate phylogeny. Please study a few more sources than your teacher, CNN, or politically driven pundants.

Imagine a car with the windows rolled up on a hot day. That's analogous to global warming. Because of the greenhouse effect, the windows are slowly being rolled up on earth. If we don't do something now, the temperature on earth would go up just like in the car.

There is no such thing as global warming.
It is a democratic fantasy.
In the 1970's sthe democratic morons were yelling ice age. They claimed that all the pollution we were putting in the air was causing smog that would block out the suns rays and we were going to freeze over and have another ice age.
WELL/??? WHERE IS THE ICE AGE IDIOTS????? WHAT HAPPENED TO IT????
Now the democratic morons like Gore are yelling global warming.
Thirty years from now they'll be yelling ice age again.
Vote Republican.

Global warming is heat is increasing in the world that is cause from carbon dioxide that was been made from pollution from our factories, cars, and many other things, carbon dioxide traps sunlight by destroying the ozone and increase temperates by 1 degree each 100 years. That doesn't seen much but it melts alot of the ice in the North and South Pole causing more heavy storms, heatwaves, drenches, tsunami, insects, and many other things. It can be solved by shortening the amount of carbon dioxide and restoring the ozone for just about 3 years. In plain english, it going to be hell for us.

It's when green gases called CO-2 carbon dioxide and other air pollutants trap the sunlight that hits the Earth and forms a Blanket of warm air to heat up the Atmospehere and cause any form of water to melt or evaporate.
