must be the dash light, find your master cylinder, open hood and look above brake pedal, its a white plastic little thingy about the length of a hot dog in the bun and the height of a double cheeseburger, it has 2 compartments in it, you can see the level of brake fluid through the plastic probably, if not take the cap off, the brake fluid level must be at the line marked on the plastic, if it isn't put brake fluid in it to the line, make sure you ask the guy at the auto parts store to give you the right brake fluid for your kind of car, put the cap back on and look, the light should have gone out, IF by chance there is no brake fluid in the little plastic thingy, then put some in and have someone you don't like drive it to a place to get your brake fixed. good luck

If the lights on your car tail keep coming on there is usually an adjustable turn knob on the back of you cars brake pedal.
If your warning light that says Brake on you dash goes on and off while your driving that is sometimes a warning that your brakes are going bad, check your manual and your brakes. Lot's of places will due free brake inspections.

Are you talking about the brake light on the tail lights or the light on your dash?
If you have a Ford product and it's the lights on the dash, you may need to check the fluid levels under the hood. This is for real; it's happened with my Aerostar and my current Windstar.

This could be for many reasons - from bad switch to low fluid level due to worn brake pads - for your safety have a mechanic check it.

1st things 1st...check to see if a specific part on your car has been recalled. I had a problem with my previous car, a saturn, and it turned out the taillight assemblies has been recalled. It was all repaired for free
