Do not give up! Compassion is out there. If you are discouraged, practice some yourself, in a new way, and perhaps you will begin to see it all around. Go to a hospital with some small tokens, a flower or two or a sticker to make someone laugh, and visit someone who is sick and alone.
Go to a nursing home with some kids, and watch them bring smiles to the faces of children who have grown old!
Go to a cemetary, spot and old man or woman who is alone, and offer a word of comfort. Or, watch volunteers. Margaret Meade taught us, "nothing is a strong as the heart of a volunteer" In a library, listen to the volunteers checking out books, or in a hospital or school. All of these things show compassion. Become a volunteer, find work that involves nothing but the buildup of others, and you will see compassion all around.
My sons and I recently ran out of gas coming home from a dental appt twenty miles from home, on a very hot day. (I am a teacher) We were completely broke, no hope of gas! A woman drove my 23 year old son to a gas station, no questions asked, and got us gas. That, my friend, is compassion. No judgement, just acting out of the love of Christ, in this case. Wonderful. It's there, buddy. Count on it.

in the first place compassion has no relationship to hate. these are two different emotions. to be compassionate is to have a deep feeling of sharing in the suffering of another. to show mercy or sympathize with. to hate is to
loathe, detest, dislike,or show animosity. all over this world we all see people and places that show a lot of compassion.therefore we cannot say that hate has taken over. for if hate had taken over , i'm almost sure you would not be where you are now. someone has shown compassion toward you. you just have to look into youself to see compassionand not hate. hate is strong but compassion is still stronger.

wow, this is a very pessimistic/negative question! what brought this on? of course there is compassion left.... human beings have huuge capacity for compassion and love and all things good... don't let hate take over you, teach your children to be loving and open minded and compassionate and sympathetic and there will be compassion left in the world.

There is still compassion in the world...it's just, most of these people do not get any credit for it. Most of the people who are compassionate probably wouldn't want the credit, they just want people to be happy.
For example, two days ago a woman came into the doughnut shop near my house, needing money for gas. No one else would give her any money, but I gave her ten dollars. I don't know her name and she doesn't know my name.
Three days ago, an elderly woman left her glasses in a store and I took them out to her.
Most of the kindness that happens gets little or no attention, but they are there.

What kind of stupid question is that? Has hate taken over your soul? There's a lot of people that fight the darkness in their own way. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean they don't exist.
