Maybe ask for gift certificates to Buy Buy or some Electronic store so that you can use all the gift certificates you get and put it towards a digital camera or cell phone.

Be honest. Tell them want you want and that you're accepting cash to put towards the purchase. There are also gift cards, like American Express, that you can use as cash.

tell them to give you gift cards, but tell them all to give you the gift card to the same place, idk, tell them to give you a gift card to k-mart or something, a place with those stuffs,
