I heard "nasty" being used that way. I said: "what?!" The guy I was talking to said these days it is used to mean something is cool, sometimes.

Actualy, cool is still in. As long as you don't use the phrase.."Thats cool man!" Just cool...
Like, someone says...Look at my new watch!
Then you say (and not to eagerly mind you) Cool.
Its all in the tone you use it.
