Well I'm a huge Stephen King fan and in my opinion it has to be either The Long Walk or The Shining!

My brother lives in Bangor Me . He thinks King lives there to be away. For example if King lived in NY at the store they would ask what are you working on. At the restaurants what are you working on. The artistic drain would hurt the art. Ma-by he would wright about the horror of the balance between art and the man made things of life.

My vote goes to The Stand. Apocalyptic in nature, yet real enough to send shivers up your spine. While there were supernatural elements, they don't detract from the story which is basically the epic battle between good and evil. I can't count the number of times I've read it!!!
