* Auto - Yes, I won't get into a car unless the driver has insurance.
* Health - No ... I saw this movie and there was a scene where there was a real old guy hooked up to machines and medicines in a coma state. The physician in training said, "How do you know he wants to remain in this coma state?" and the other doctor replied, "We know because he bought the most expensive insurance and this signifies that he will do everything to remain alive ... If he wanted to die, well, he would have bough less insurance" ...
However, I do believe that basic medical help should be universal ... but if you want better health care like X-rays, Chemo-Therapy, or organ transplants, then you should get more insurance or pay premium medical costs .
* House/Fire - Again, unless it's bank owned, you should decide for yourself how much value you have in your property. If you prefer to save on your own, fine ... if you want insurance ... fine, buy it.

I believe that everyone should be concerned with others being insured. There are far too many people paying far too much to pick up the slack for others not paying anything.

If you are talking about auto insurance, yes. Why do I have to pay for unisured motorists on my insurance? I also feel, in case of an accident, an uninsured motorist must not be able to collect any amount or have us pay thier hospital bills.
