With prepaid cell you buy the phone and a minute card. Trac-fone can be set up online or through a landline phone. Prepaid cell phones are good if you don't use the phone alot and don't want a monthly payment but they charge you for every minute that you talk including incoming calls where most other plans have free incoming calls. Email me if you have any questions.

Prepaid cell phones mean just that. You don't get a bill, because you pay ahead of time. You only pay for what you use. There is no contract, no address required, no nothing.

I use virgin mobile. Go to Target, buy a phone, buy an airtime card. Activate it either online or over the phone.. They ask you to enter the ESN, press various keys, etc. You pay about 25 cents a minute for first 10 minutes a day, then 10 cents after that (I think). you check your balance with the "$" key. When you need more time, buy another airtime card. $20 gets you at least 100 minutes. You go into the menus on the phone, enter in the secret code on the airtime card, and presto, the money shows on your account. They require you to do at least $20 every 3 months.

My cell phone cost per month has gone from over $50 with sprint to about $5 or $10 a month with virgin mobile.

All I know is I bought the Virgin cell phone from Sears, the same thing you see in 7-11. It is prepaid and I pay by the minute, and it's cheap IF YOU DON'T USE IT MUCH.

It was easy setting up the account at the Virgin website, and I buy the pre-paid phone cards or credit slips at a huge variety of stores like 7-11, HMV, Shoppers Drug Mart, and then I go to the Virgin website, go to my account and enter the # on the credit slip.

With regular you get a credit check and sign a use contract. With a prepaid, you get a phone and buy the cards and you go. When you run out, you buy more. I much prefer this method. We have Boost Mobile (nextel network) and love it, never have static or dropped calls. Good Luck!

The only reasons to get pre-paid is if you dont use the phone often say for emergencies, and if you need a phone and have horrible credit and no one will offer you a plan without paying a huge deposit
