I took a colposcopy two weeks ago. I am NOT having any luck getting my results back. The doctors office continues telling me they dont have them, they are in other office, they have them and can't read them.... I am sooo frustrated? What should I do? I went in last week so they could tell me the "results" in person PER THEIR REQUEST when I got there, after paying the co-pay all they could tell me was they didnt have them.... I need advice!

I would tell them that it has been long enough and you want your results and if they still continue to say that then tell them that you will be getting a lawyer for malpractice since you had the test and no one seems to be able to read it there.

I would INSIST on a refund on my copay. You did not receive the intended service.

Secondly, I would find a more responsible doctor. Yes, doctors have a lot to handle, but something as important as test results should not be taken lightly.

Contact the place where you had the testing done (if not the doctor's office). They may have kept a copy of the scan and you may be able to get it. If they do not have it, they should have on record when they sent it to the doctor.

Good luck!

(2 weeks is long enough! Act now!!!)

Notify your insurance company. You paid the co-pay which means they were billed for the rest. That ought to get you some action. But you should still stay on top of it. I had a similar experience and if I hadn't kept bugging them about getting the results of my test (ultrasound), I would have eventually had a serious medical complication. Luckily, it didn't come to that, because of my proactive insistence.

I work at a drs office, and ALL results should come back within 2-3 days. If they do not have them, they can call and get them, simple as that. You have a right to your records.

You can't bring them up on malpractice...they didn't do any harm...you may want to either go to a different doctor or ask them exactly why they aren't ready...you shouldn't have paid the co-pay, that's bogus...

Sounds like a very disorganized office. If they really lost them you might have a lawsuit.
