No specific order

Peter Jackson- He made one of the greatest trilogies of all time. Every thing in the LOTR is amazingly well done. Then he followed it up with King Kong, I thought it was good but not as good as LOTR.

Ridley Scott- He has made some of the coolest and some of my favourite movies. Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Alien, Black Hawk Down.... the list goes on, a great director.

M. Night Shymalan- Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and the Village. He has had some that people loved, some that people didn't like but I like all his films. With all of the remakes being made its nice to have some originaltiy.

Roland Emmerich- Love his movies. The Patriot, Independence Day, and The Day After Tommorow are all favorites of mine. His movie are never dull.

other directors I like....Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, George Lucas, Sam Raimi, and Mel Gibson.

It's hard to say. Personally speaking, Alfred Hitchcock is my favorite filmmaker. He displayed an unmatched level of filmmaking precision, was a master at creating suspense and atmosphere, employed incredible cinematography and inventive camera techniques, and used his films as forums for his deepest fears and obsessions.

Anyway, here's a list of some of my favorite filmmakers and their greatest films:
Alfred Hitchcock-Vertigo (1958)
Stanley Kubrick-2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Jean-Luc Goddard-Breathless (1959)
Francois Truffant-The 400 Blows (1959)
Akira Kurosowa-Seven Samurai (1954)
Orson Welles-Citizen Kane (1941)
Ingmar Bergman-Wild Strawberries (1957)
Luis Bunuel-Viridiana (1961)
Frederico Fellini-8 1/2 (1963)
Martin Scorsese-Taxi Driver (1976)
Charlie Chaplin-City Lights (1931)
Yasujiro Ozu-Tokyo Story (1953)
Wernor Herzog-Aguirre: The Wrath of God (1972)
F.W. Murnau-Sunrise (1927)
Fritz Lang-M (1931)
John Cassavetes-A Woman Under the Influence (1974)

Gotta agree on Ridley man he grew up about 20 miles from where i live.
But the 2 of the next generation that will rule very very soon are Bryan Singer ( The Usual Suspects,X-Men,Superman Returns) AND most of all J.J. Abrams (Alias,Lost,Mission Impossible 3) this guy is the next Spielberg i'm telling you.

Ridley Scott and Alan Parker are two directors that get me going for my wallet even without knowing what the movie is about and who's in it.
