My husband is a general contractor. Is there much residential building? We can stand four seasons but are tired of the long, cold Utah winters.

I didn't live in Lexington, but am very familiar with the city. Yes, lots of residential down there, it's a growing area. It is where University of Kentucky is located and is an hour from Louisville. My daughter went to school at UK, and it's a nice city. Very pretty, lots to do in that area (of course you have to like horses and basketball lol)...reasonable cost of living there. Has a rather "southern" culture to it.

You will have four seasons. I'm in southern Ohio and the weather in Lexington is similar to that in Cincinnati. Not a lot of snow. But winters around this part of the country can be wet and grey. Not a whole lot of real cold weather. Day temps in January/February usually in the upper 20s/low 30s. But to remember it CAN get extremely cold from time to time, but not very often.

I went to school there at UK, but live in Indiana, now. It's a beautiful city and has plenty of residential contracting. In fact, the city streets probably can't handle all the traffic because the residential housing there has gone crazy. You're not far from beautiful mountains, rolling hills, and plenty of horse farms. The winter does get cold, but you are used to that from Utah. I don't know about humidity in Utah. I gather it's probably not humid there. It will be more humid than you are used to in Lexington. All in all a great town, though. One that I've talked with my wife about moving there in the past, but we are so content in Indiana. Anyway, good luck on your decision.

I have traveled to Lexington on business. Beautiful city, everyone is extremely friendly. Great town, very clean. Try the Ale-8 soda!
As far as the market for residential buildings I could not help you there, but it is a great city with a lot to do and a small town feeling and mindset
Fair winds and smooth sailing!

Lexington is a university town. It is the home of the University of Kentucky. About an hour and half drive from Cincinnati and an hour from Louisville. Lexington has a lot of horse farms and is very pretty because of the mountains. Summer is humid, winters are mild to moderate.
