Florida, they have the best team, with an experienced WR corp, and the best QB in the SEC in Chris Leak. They also have the SEC's best defense. Another plus for the Gators is going to be Urban Meyer's offensive scheme. Traditionally, his teams in their second year have offensive explosions. They average almost 14 additional points per game. The only thing that will hold Florida back will be a murderous schedule. Playing LSU, Bama, and at Auburn in consecutive weeks is not good for any team. If the Gators can overcome a hard schedule, I see them beating Auburn in Atlanta.

LSU !!!
They have in my opinion the best QB in the country in JaMarcus Russell (6'6" 255LBS with 4.55 speed !!!). They play 4 of the first five games in Baton Rouge this year, which will be the toughest place to play this year. They'll have plenty of momentum heading into the bulk of the schedule, and if they survive games on the road at the Auburn and at Florida they will sweep the SEC and take home the conference. They're also my pick to be in the Nation Title Game this year.
I'm still not convinced Chris Leak can run that spread option offense the way Alex Smith ran it in Utah. Leak is much more effective in the pocket picking defenses apart, not scrambling around all silly. Next year Tim Tebow will show you how it's done, he's a true option QB and he'll have the Gators in the Nation Title hunt !!!
I'm a real college football nut... I gave you the watered down answer to your question !!!

I'm guessing Auburn with a killer coaching staff, an experienced quarterback, stud running back, and overall veteran team. Even the non-starters last year got a great deal of experience in big games. Add to that a favorable home schedule for its toughest games.
LSU--I think Les Miles underperformed last year, given his available talent.
Alabama--The cupboard is bare talentwise. The defense hemmorhaged after graduation, the offensive line will contiinue to stink.
Georgia--Can they replace their quarterback? A lot hinges on this question. Richt certainly is a great coach.
South Carolina--Probably a year away from really contending. But don't count Spurrier out.
Tennessee--I personally believe this is a program that's spiralling out of control. Fulmer needs a fix fast, and he really needs to instill a shot of discipliine with this team.
Florida--Can Urban Meyer really coach against the SEC's super fast defenses? He really hasn't proved himself. This ain't the WAC after all.
Ole Miss--A dark horse contender. They will probably knock off at least one power house this year.
Vandy--A little known quarterback transfer could actually surprise people this year. Their current coach is beginning to make some waves.

Florida. They have one of the hardest schedules in the NCAA, but in the end they have the east won, and they can win the championship game.
Urban Meyer hasn't proved himself? What are you talking about?
3 losses last year.
1- Game @ alabama, who went undefeated until the last 2 games of the season, btw.
2-Game @ LSU, who went 10-2 and won the sec west
3-Game @ SC, Steve spurrier, playing his old team, come on.
Urban Meyer has proved himself in the SEC. You just can't see it. 1st year of his completely new offense, with a qb that really doesnt fit, and he only loses 3 games? He is a great coach.> Mark my words, when Tim Tebow is a junior, they will win the national championship.
In the west, Auburn has it locked up.. They are gonna be great too. I can see them beating florida in the season, but losing in the SEC championship. Look at Florida's midseason schedule.. It's painful to look at.

look at background. a million)Rohan Davey is going out with an harm. Matt Mauck steps in and wins a championship for LSU. 2)Jamarcus Russell is going professional and Matt Flynn steps in and wins a championship for LSU 3)Ryan Perrilloux gets kicked off the gang and Jarrett Lee steps in and... wins a championship for LSU(?) i'm no longer asserting that that is something assured, besides the undeniable fact that it is the formulation that LSU does ultimate with. Dominant protection. tricky-nosed working game. familiar quarterback. Lee's overall performance final weekend seems to have crammed 80% of the questions with regard to the gang. If he can constantly carry out like he did interior the 2d 0.5 of the game.. hell, if he can carry out comparable to he did for the finished game. Then the working game and protection would be sufficient to work out us via. the only different undertaking I actual have is that the secondary hasn't completely proved themselves yet. Granted they have achieved superbly against 3 unfold offenses... yet they have been additionally mediocre unfold offenses. They win if: LSU - Lee is consistent and the CBs can decrease offenses Florida - Tebow gets out of this droop Georgia - The trenches get plenty greater severe Alabama - they do no longer without warning replace right into a distinctive team Auburn - no person else does what they could desire to Vanderbilt - Hell freezes over

Alabama is my pick. The reason...I am a fan. Every year is our year (especially in late Juy/early August). Having been a fan for quite sometime, no one or reason can predict the eventual SEC winner. It is too competitive. A season can turn on an injury, a bad call, or an untimely arrest. So my love of the Crimson Tide is as valid of a reason as any.
Roll Tide!
