What SQL database and servers would they be using?

I'm sure its a pretty big database, but I am also sure they have a cleanup batch process that runs once a month that will clean out really really old questions and answers that will clear out some data space. Most companies run these batch processes, so I'm sure yahoo has them too.
Plus, Yahoo! Answers controls the space by limiting peoples' ability to answer and ask questions by giving each level a limit. Not many have reached the no-limit level.
They also enforce character limits so that helps with allocating space.
