I had my membranes stripped for my first child and the next day I got contractions and had him that night. it varies though thats what the doctor said. but he was rahter forceful. I was no dialated at all. I was 34 weeks when he did this to try and natuarally induce labor. (my husband was going to iraq in 3 days) it worked.....good luck!!

There's been some debate on this one. Many midwives have had a 100% success rate with stripping to induce labor within 24 hours, so long as the woman bled from it. Some women are stripped multiple times with no luck. I had my membranes stripped with my last pregnancy, and didn't go into labor until about four hours prior to my inductioned, scheduled a week after my membranes being stripped. It's unknown if I went into labor due to the stripping, or just because I was 2 weeks overdue and the baby finally decided it was time.

With my youngest, I was in labor for six weeks. They stripped the membranes twice and had me on a pitocin drip. Finally, they did an emergency c-section for failure to progress (duh!!!) and found out that his ear had been presenting instead of the crown of his head . . . he had been stuck for those six weeks!

Good luck!

It can take anywhere from hours to weeks. There really is no time limit on that.
