I've never heard of any American managers managing in the major European leagues. Is Bruce Arena good enough to be the first.

Who knows but the problem I see for Bruce Arena is that he is an unknown quantity in Europe. I for instance do not know if he played football and for whom and since it seems to be that only ex footballers from club football in Europe get the jobs then how would he crack it. Certainly noy on the performance of the USA at the World Cup. He looks like a real nice guy but you know what they say about nice guys.
By the way Monia if you have nothing intelligent to offer then go and do your nails or knit a jersey for your Grandpa.

What you have to remember is a coach/manager can only be as good as the players he is working with.

I am sure Mr arena could do a good job at any club in the world if given the right resources and enough money.

I think there's absolutely no chance of Arena going to Europe, specially to a top league team. He even might end up there, but Im sure it would be minor european leagues. Unfortunately, the US football players and coaches are mocked around the world, and if one thinks, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Ajax or the such are great teams, then yes...Arena will coach in Europe.

My view is that neither Arena nor the US team are particularly strong. However the good thing in football is that in one game (only one game) even an average team can beat a better one. In a long championship that is impossible. Arena is intelligent though and with good players he could manage well.

I Think its hard to tell International football uses different aspects of coaching it relies on fitness and tactics as does club football but club football u also need to spot talent and manage players all season round Bruce is a good coach but can he do the job at a major club level? not too sure

Ken- I don't think he was good enough for the USA never mind in Europe, maybe for 2 division sides so that he to could get more experience.

Certainly good enough for many club sides and would be a great name for a stadium too.
