Hey Jude in general was written as a "things are going to be ok" song, so I always took that line at face value: People who shun things around them, and think that it's the right thing to do, are fools.

Paul started the song for Julian Lennon about his parents' divorce, but John Lennon, upon hearing it the first time, thought it was about himself, that things would be ok with him and Yoko and everything that was going on with them at the time. So he told Paul, "oh, it's me!" And Paul replied, "no, it's ME!" Just to show you how universal one song can be. No wonder this song means a lot to many people around the world.

The song, originally titled "Hey Jules", was written by McCartney to comfort John Lennon's son Julian when John Lennon and his first wife, Cynthia Powell, were divorced. McCartney eventually came to the conclusion that Jude was a much easier name to sing than Jules, and modified the song accordingly.

Paul McCartney wrote it about John's son Jules, but he changed the name to Jude because he liked the way it sounded better. I read this in a Beatles book.

Lennon's' Mom was Julia, son Julian was named for her. The song "hey Jude" is for him and "Julia" was for her.
Julia gave up John to be raised by her sister, Mimi.
Julia was killed by a bus a block from John & Mimi's home when john was 9 or 10.
Julia gave John his first quitar and she played the banjo.

OK, it wasn't John Lennon's song, it was The Beatles. Second, Paul McCartney was the one singing it, not Lennon.

Therefore, no soup for you. Sorry. Next time do your research.
