When MTV first started, it was all music videos.
There were no commercials, either. The idea was you had to pay for cable TV to see it, so no advertising sponsors were necessary!

It's stands for Music, but I can totally see why people today would not understand that. Man, I remember when it first came on... it's a shame they have strayed so far from their original plans for the channel. It's all about money now, forget about the music or the videos, let's all watch the hundredth million Real World/ Road Rules Challenge or whatever, I don't even know what crap they show now. It's sad. "I want my, I want my, I want my MTV!"

Once upon a time (when I was in high school), MTV actually showed music videos. It seems that I was addicted to it that summer - this was the first year it came out, I would go to drivers training school from 6-9am and then watch MTV all day :)

The M stands for music. Unfortuanately the music is no longer around on mtv unless you wake up by five and go to work by six thirty. hat's the time mucis's on.
