lol i'm reading roots right now but at what year was this

It isn't fiction, folks. It is the story that Alex Haley was able to trace of his ancestors during the slave trade from the coasts of Africa to the shores of America. It is the story of one family's experience with one of the ultimate demeaning situations in human history. If I am not mistaken, Alex Haley even received several awards for it... was it the Pulitzer?

Anyways, just because they made a movie out of it doesn't mean that it DIDN'T happen. Get your stories straight, ya'all.
