Who do you matter to? I spent 2 years on an island and found out how little I really matter to my family. Humbeling experience to-say-the-least!
So I often wonder now - whom do I matter to? Besides myself of course! My life is pretty detatched from entanglements - being free of obligation is enlightening but also can be lonely.

I'm sorry your experience left you feeling lonely, but perhaps you aren't giving yourself enough credit. It is hard to tell what kind of impact you have on people--you have no idea how many lives you have touched and how many people are better, or who have grown or developed or benefited in some way from knowing you or interacting with you. If you are feeling lonely and detached, I recommend engaging yourself in your community. Volunteering is an immensely rewarding experience and it is often where you are most needed. Trust me--you and your actions matter.

Essentially we are not matter at all...it is our origin. We are consciousness.Forgetting that we trying to cling to matter...Not to be lonely, means to create matter for yourself.Than enjoy it for a while or longer, but do not identify yourself with it. Easy, you are Divine spirit...or matter will take over and it is heavy. When you are in love nothing is matter symbolically and literally.Take it as an example. Oh do not make matter from love, that would be devastating

I think you matter to yourself above all, but if you feel that this is leaving you empty on the inside, you need to create ties to organizations, people, charity, volunteer organizations. Akso, if you have a pet, you matter to them more than the world, this is the only unconditional love in this life, in my opinion. Another thing is that a lot of the times people that value you a lot dont realize it until they come dangerously close to losing you, this I ve learned from personal experience. I am sure yo matter a lot to your family. But above all, you matter to yourself.
