You need it because the chess program interface you are using is written in Flash. You can get the flash player for free at the Adobe website: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoid=BIOW

I play chess and many other games on ityourturn.com and I don't think you need flash7 on that site.

I suggest you goto freechess.org. You can play online without invoking your web browser (and flash) by downloading a free windows interface at babaschess.net.
