Not everyone is Black, but there are more Black people in commercials than there use to be, and why not?

I'm a Black woman. Back in the 1980s, I was applying for a job as a manuscript reader in a publishing house. Among the questions I was asked was what kinds of reading had I done, and what books did I read. I compiled a huge list, and regretted to myself that there were so few works by Black authors on the list. When the white female interviewer spoke to me, looking over my list, she said she was concerned because it seemed I had read nothing but Black authors! I pointed out to her how many, many non-Black authors I had written down. I did not get the job. Is this an example of racist thinking on her part, or what?

I offer this as an example of someone focusing on Blacks because they are used to seeing either no Blacks or very few Blacks, so that when you see more Blacks, you think you are seeing nothing but Blacks. You're used to seeing 0-2%, so when you see 15% you think you're seeing 90%. I think that's what you're doing.

There is a war going on in Iraq. We are having conflict with Iran and North Korea. There still isn’t a cure for AIDS. Hundreds of people are dying right at this moment. The list of calamities in this nation and the world is growing as I type this. There are more pressing concerns in this world than more or less blacks in commercials. For those of you that it matters to, it really shouldn’t, I am black.

I live in Canada too and I think you have your percentages wrong. Try visiting Nova Scotia. I also think you are watching a different television than I am. And if you really have an issue with what color the people are that are doing the commercials you have a problem.

because the pendlum is swinging from black subjugation past equality straight to glorifying blacks and general a** kissing towards them. white people that think there should be a double standard to "make up" for slavery are retarded.
